So the birthday parties, graduation and BBQ celebrations went well over the weekend. I am back to work here at Beautiful Babies and More. I had a delightful newborn this morning, tomorrow will be meeting a little miss 6 month old, wedding on Saturday, a family trip with friends to Knoebels Grove on Sunday and back to work on Monday with some more sessions next week. June is coming in quick and we are pretty much scheduled out for the month, with the exception of a few weekday mornings (very few.) I will be playing catch up on Monday with a lot of photos to share on the blog. Have a great weekend!

Until then I wanted to share a sweet favorite from last week…

Well Friday is Kindergarten graduation for my Lucas. He also turns 6 on Memorial Day. The emotional roller coaster has begun. *sniff sniff* It really is amazing how fast they grow into little people. While I am extremely proud and joyful that he is going into 1st grade and is on his journey, I’m sad at some of the endings. He’s leaving a school he’s been attending since 2005. He started when he was 2 for a one day a week Mother’s Morning Out program, then attended Preschool, Pre-K and Kindergarten at this school. This school was a find for us. It is the most amazing little school which I have grown to love and feel like part of a family there. Lucas is in a class of 18 children which have been together for 3 plus years now they are all going to different schools. Lucas is excited for his new journey and new school but this Mommy isn’t ready quite yet. Anyway I could go on and on. My bright and amazing boy is ready and Mommy needs to catch up with him. Just in case you other Mommies need a reminder they really do grow fast, a blink to be exact.

And a photo… a stroll down memory lane. (Grammy do you need a tissue?)

This family is adding another little one,  soon to be a party of five. I can not wait to meet Miss S.’s and Mr. D.’s newest little sibling.  I’m glad we got to take some photos of the beautiful Mama before the day arrives. She was glowing and the soon to be big brother and sister were delightful as always. Here’s a sneak peek,  this is a fun session to work on.

I am loving the weather finally. It seems those weeks of rain are behind us and gorgeous sunny days ahead. It is funny how much the weather affects your mood. When the weather is bright and warm I can go so much more work done. Even though the work is not even outside work, it is editing, packaging and answering emails. I feel so much better and more productive when the sun is shining.

Did you vote? You can vote everyday for Beautiful Babies and More Photography!

I have gotten behind on my sneak peeks from the weekend. Today’s sneak peek is from at Saturday session at Tookany Creek State Park. Miss A. is an adorably delightful little explorer who is celebrating her ballerina birthday in a few weeks. She will also be getting a new sister right around her birthday too. This is so exciting for the family. Congratulations and enjoy your little peek!

This guy was a rock star! He looked so dapper in his 1st Holy Communion suit. He even asked “Does this make me look like Obama?” Hahaha! What a handsome guy and so funny as well. We had fun strolling around the campus of Swarthmore College.

Sneak peek for Mom to follow… (and check out the exciting news under the sneak peek photos!)

I photographed an adorable brother and sister Friday morning in the city. What a loving little pair of siblings.  You could see the adoration little sister had for big brother and big brother was giving out the kisses and hugs to little sister. Awwww. I love seeing siblings being sweet to one another, make my heart happy. While little sister was finishing her nap, brother, Mommy and I explored the city streets in search of the elusive garbage truck — a favorite among the two year old boy set. He is a very good explorer. Here’s a sneak peek of the session. =)

Why newborns?

I am asked this question by many friends and clients. Why do you photograph babies in the first ten days? Wouldn’t you rather wait until they can smile, hold their head up, or make eye contact?

Well, no

Everyone says, ‘they grow up so fast,’ and it’s true. Which means the newborn stage is but a fleeting moment in baby time, and a bleary-eyed blur for new parents. The first ten days go by so quickly, that by the time new moms and dads are accustomed to the feeding routines, diaper changes, and sleepless nights, their newborn is suddenly an infant, and then a baby, and then a toddler. Parents reminisce bittersweet about how tiny their bundle of joy was at birth as they watch him hold his newborn sibling, as he takes his first steps into a kindergarten classroom, a college dormitory, down the aisle, or as he holds his own newborn child…

But those newborn details are easily forgotten after the haze of new parenthood clears, and especially with the passing of years. The wrinkled forehead. The untouched skin, delicate and papery. Peachfuzzy shoulders. Those tiny hands and feet and that signature pretzel position that is so naturally comforting when you’re only a few days old. When sleeping, newborns are a vision of peace and quiet. And when awake, they are awash in wonder at hearing mother’s familiar voice. It’s all too magical for even a thousand words, which is why I take pictures of newborns.
